| Karaoke Box update |

Hi all! This is Joyce (aka balatstar), owner and maintainer of karaokebox.org.
Some of you have probably noticed that I haven't updated the site with new songs for over two years. In the past, even when I've been really busy, I always made sure to upload at least a few new songs per year.
However, two years ago, in September 2009, Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana hit my hometown, submerging our entire house, actually our entire village, in flood. Fortunately, none of my loved ones, including our pets, were injured. We lost everything else, though, including my personal computer which contained the source files for the karaoke songs on the site, as well as all the backups, and all of my jpop CDs and mp3s.
We've had to start almost from scratch since, and now, a month short of two years after the tragedy, we're only just beginning to get back to our normal lives.
For these past two years, I've been mulling over what to do with the Karaoke Box, but kept putting the decision off. But in a couple of weeks, the karaokebox.org domain will expire, so I'll be forced to make a decision sooner than I had hoped.
I may choose to retire the domain entirely. Or retain the domain for another year but move the site to a free host.
I love the Karaoke Box, but I feel like it will continue to get outdated for lack of newer material. Because I'll be honest -- I don't think I will ever have the time and energy to recreate the source flash for new songs anytime soon, or ever. Also, I won't fuzz the facts: the cash freed up from the domain and hosting fees would help fund the unfinished renovations on our house (the garage is still missing a huge chunk of roof; we've had to go paycheck to paycheck on repairs for two years).
But don't worry, if I do decide to retire the Box, I promise I will make all files available to everyone on this community who would want them. You may play them locally, or upload them to your sites as you wish. This is my thanks for sticking with us until the end.

Can I request some songs for Karaoke Box?
I would really love to see the songs Complication (Durarara!!), Trust Me (Durarara!!), Aoi Tada (Angel Beats!), My Song (Angel Beats!), Renai Circulation (Bakemongatari), Just Be Friends (Luka?), Bad Apple (Touhou), and any songs from the anime Mermaid Melody.

Hey, I'm On a dragonfly on Youtube! If you guys find any Youtube channels for karaoke videos, share them with us! I'll share what I've found so far. I use Karafun Studio to make my karaoke videos, but you can also use Sony Vegas.

Hey!
K... so I've been trying to get over my phobia of letting people hear me sing by uploading videos to youtube. Soooo, here's a cover of Onitsuka Chihiro's Memai. It's not very good - it's just a practice run. I plan on recording a proper one soon! I'd still appreciate feedback though...
